  • Is the nail lamp a purple light lamp?

    Time:2024-07-25 Views:1

Before discussing this issue, we need to first understand some basic concepts. Nail lighting usually refers to the special lighting equipment used to cure UV nail polish or gel in the nail salon. This type of lamp does emit purple light, but that doesn't mean it's a purple light lamp. In fact, this type of lamp mainly uses ultraviolet (UV) radiation to achieve curing effect. Ultraviolet light is an invisible light with a wavelength range between 10nm and 400nm. According to different wavelengths, ultraviolet rays are divided into three categories: UVA, UVB, and UVC. The UV lamps commonly used in nail salons typically emit UVA light with a wavelength of approximately 315nm to 400nm. Although the human eye can see some UVA light, it is still essentially ultraviolet rather than pure purple light.

Therefore, from a scientific perspective, the lamp used to illuminate nails is not a purple light lamp, but a ultraviolet light lamp. Purple light is a part of visible light with a wavelength range between 380nm and 450nm, while UV lamps typically have wavelengths below this range. Although UV lamps present a purple visual effect during operation, this is mainly due to the addition of certain fluorescent substances in the lamp tube, which emit purple light when stimulated by ultraviolet light. So, although what we see with the naked eye is purple light, what actually works is invisible ultraviolet light.
